NIGERIA'S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM WILL COLLAPSE- Professor Onafowokan

An associate professor, Dr Oluyombo Onafowokan, on Saturday stated that the directive via the house of senate that JAMB should increase the validity of its results to three years may have terrible impact on the state’s system of education.
Onafowokan, a Senior Lecturer, School of Management and
Social Sciences, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, defined that such policy could make students lackadaisical and unserious.
He said that the directive from the senate is not advisable for our educational system as it will make students not to take the JAMB examination critically.
He stated, “I presume the brand new development may even create room for redundancy, when they realize that their UTME results can  be used to enter the University for three years.”
Onafowokan said that parents and guardians will have to monitor their children and wards closely with this new development in play.
The don stated that jamb must be allowed to proceed with the fine approaches recognized to it in handling the examination annually.
He said that the nation’s academic system needs policies which will improve the standard of education not ones which will derail it.
The senate on thursday directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to extend the validity of its UTME results to a period of 3 years.
