JAMB 2017: 7 Solid Ways to Approach that ‘BIG’JAMB UTME examination is one exam that is being looked forward to by many admission-seeking Nigerian students. JAMB exam day is almost like Christmas or Sallah day to millions of Nigerian students, who troop out in mass to cross the necessary hurdle in the pursuit of higher learning in Nigeria.

At least one-third of students who troop out to take this basic tertiary institution entrance examination (UTME) will end up not getting admitted into any institution in the end! That’s the devastating truth.
I have to say the truth here; nearly half of those denied admission into the institution of their choice had not passed the JAMB cut-off mark. But you don’t want to be among those denied admission because they couldn’t pass JAMB cut-off, do you? This is why I have composed this article, just for you my friend.


Seven is a number of perfection, which is why I have penned down some seven solid ways to approach the upcoming JAMB 2017 examination.

Ways to approach JAMB 2017:

1: Prayers

Christians have a popular song that says “prayer is the key; prayer is the master key”; prayer is weapon you can not ignore in any endeavor you undertake. The power behind fervent prayer cannot be overemphasized – be you Christian or Muslim you just have to pray for your upcoming examination.
Approach your 2017 JAMB examination with prayers, pray about it everyday leading to the examination proper. Promise your God that in this exam, you would write it with all honesty and not cheat – you wouldn’t only pass this JAMB with flying colors, you’ll also get that admission you seek.

2.  Study

There are no two ways about it, if you don’t study, you fail! OK you might cross the cut off mark, but you will ultimately fail, because I don’t see you overcoming other hurdles of examinations that will you will face, if you couldn’t read for your JAMB exam.
Remember what I said about prayer? Please forget all about it if you aren’t going to read hard for your exam – prayer only works when you are ready to do your part as a studious candidate. Your work will pay off this time, trust me.

3: Confidence

So you’ve written JAMB a couple of times and you were unsuccessful, maybe you even beat the cut-off mark for your course of choice and still got denied; this could start playing on your mind and make you lose focus and self esteem as another JAMB exam approaches. Don’t let this happen to you – Change your approach!
Approach your JAMB exam with every sense of belief and confidence; just don’t be complacent or overconfident. JAMB UTME is an exam that can be aced if you had studied and prayed like I mentioned in the first two points above.

4: Attend Tutorials

I always tell JAMB UTME candidates who I advice, that they should not try to be an Island of knowledge, because no one is. If you are still in secondary school, it’s advised you take some extra-moral classes, this will go a long way in improving your overall JAMB score.
Tutorials help, they really do. Candidates who had sat for JAMB a couple of times without success are often tempted to ignore tutorials, but they do so at their own peril. Tutorials have also been proven to help beyond JAMB or WAEC; they give you a building block you can use even when you secure admission.

Practice Time Management

JAMB now employs Computer Based Testing for her candidates. This means that, time is a commodity of high value during JAMB examination. The system can log you out when your time elapses, this is not good for you, trust me.

You need to practice how to answer questions without wasting much time – I’m not saying you should rush, but rather, you be time conscious. Work on this when you use past questions, and thank me later.

6: Reduce Distractions

I pity our youths of nowadays, there are hundreds of things competing for their time e.g. Making money, relationships, internet, and other frivolities which are overly unimportant.
If you are in the category of those who will sit for the 2017 JAMB examination, then my advice to you is that you avoid all these distraction as much as possible.
Put away WhatsApp, BBM, Facebook and other social media till after your JAMB exams at least. Avoid distractions and focus on your books; It will really help you.

7: Start now!

The best time to start reading and preparing for your JAMB exams is now! Wait
no further, don’t say you’ll start after the yuletide, you might just be shooting yourself in the leg. The earlier the better, dear friend.
